Dress Shopping
I know a lot of lovely brides went dress shopping this weekend. They say finding a dress is almost like finding a man, you have to have know somewhat of what you want but keep a open mind. Dress shopping can be very fun, affordable, and painless if you follow these helpful tips!
1. Check your schedule and make sure you go on a relaxing day where you have no other obligations so you won't have to rush!
2. Make a appointment so they can have a bridal consultant waiting on you, all year brides are looking for dresses you never know when they will be busy. Dresses usually can take up to 5 months to get in and you want to save 1 month for alterations.
3. Know the feel of your wedding so you can know what kind of dress to choose. You would not want to get a formal princess gown with pick-ups for a summer beach wedding. Having somewhat of a theme helps a lot.
4. Do your research! Look up some styles that you think will flatter your body type and fit the wedding theme before you go so the consultant can find and suggest dresses quickly.
5. Invite two people that you really value and trust their opinion. Do not bring a entourage, all the different opinions will overwhelm you. I suggest taking mom and/or a good friend.
6. Wear proper undergarments! The bridal consultant will have to help you in and out of dresses.
7. Get dolled up! You want to try on dresses when you look nice, sometimes its hard to get the feel of the dress and the look on a bad hair day or with completely no make-up.
8. Tell the bridal consultant your budget so that they can stay within your price range. Also consider bustling and alterations, bridal gown alterations can be very expensive.
9. Make sure the bridal consultant puts a veil, feathers,or a birdcage on you so you can see the complete look.
10. Take lots of detailed pictures of you in the dresses so you can remember each one.
The most important rule is to never show your groom the dress! You want him to be amazed when you walk down that aisle.=)
