Where's Home?

San Antonio , Texas

How long have you been married?

Nearly two months!

Where did you honeymoon?

El Dorado Royale, Riviera Maya—we did a honeymoon registry and had our honeymoon courtesy of our wonderful families and friends! Send all your couples interested in this to Skip at All About Honeymoons, he is just fabulous!

What were some personal touches at your wedding?

Signature songs for our wedding party to be introduced (WAY FUN!!); our favorite wine bottles with lilies and willow branch used as accents to guest book and cocktail tables (it was CHEAP and I couldn’t have been happier with how those turned out); blessing stones instead of the traditional guest book—we had a BLAST reading what people wrote on the stones and now we use the stones as decorations in our home and get to see them every day! We did a sand ceremony to include my daughters in the wedding ceremony (also set up at the house for us to enjoy); music by Vitamin String Quartet so we had all our favorite 80s hair-band music done symphony style; we had a photo-booth so our guests could take home personalized pics as their gifts from us! The photo-booth was a hit! One more important personal touch - we chose our colors, gray and sienna, based on Kim's girls' names, Greiye and Sienna

What aspect of your wedding did you splurge on?

OPEN BAR, baby! Sure would have saved a lot by going with a pay bar but we decided to treat our guests for the night and are definitely glad we did!

If you had to do your wedding day over, what one thing would you do differently?

Our wedding was absolutely perfect and turned out exactly as we hoped. There are three things I wish I had thought about:

  1. I would have got into that photo booth way more times with way more people than I did!

  2. I would have made a point to ask photographers to make sure and get pics of all my guests, not just the ones acting silly, being noticeable, or in wedding party;

  3. I would have used STC for everything, especially in helping with the arrangements and contracts with vendors throughout planning process; most of our vendors were great, but the one we had problems with, I didn’t have everything detailed in writing. I trusted that vendor to do good business and honor her word, and when she didn’t, she fell back on, “its not in writing”! Who can remember to get every little detail in writing when planning a wedding?? Your wedding coordinator will!

Were there any surprises on your wedding day?

My brother did an awesome toast that involved hideous, teeth baring childhood picture of me, stories about insulting his ex-girlfriend after stealing her Orange Julius recipe, and displaying the brown bowl we fought about every morning when we were kids—Cereal in fact does taste better in the brown bowl—and someday I intend to get it back! No bad surprises, all good!

What are your three favorite blogs/websites (besides STC's)?

theknot.com, annemariephotography.com, btlproductions.com

When selecting someone to entrust with your wedding day, why did you choose STC?

Honestly we didn’t even shop around for wedding coordinator, as soon as we were engaged, we already knew we would use STC; Travis being a vendor himself says he’s never worked a wedding with STC that didn’t run smoothly; as a matter of fact several vendors we used would noticeably relax when they realized STC was running the show. They would ask questions about the time-line, etc during meetings and as soon as they knew STC was coordinating, they would say, Oh, ok! No need to grill us further!
