Jennifer + Andy's Houstonian Wedding | Houston Wedding Coordinator

Jennifer and Andy’s wedding at The Houstonian was beautiful and elegant, but don’t let that fool you, these two knew how to have fun! It was one of the last weddings in 2020 before COVID shut everything down, and they went out in style!!

In choosing The Houstonian for their wedding celebration, they were able to host all of their weekend activities and guests all in one location, which is one of the things we love best about hotel weddings. It was the perfect spot for out of town guests, the rehearsal dinner, the getting ready locations, the ceremony, and the reception. Plus with their iconic lighted Texas Live Oak tree and unmatched hospitality, it is hard to not fall in love with this Houston treasure.

The ceremony for 250 guests was held during golden hour in front of the twinkling Texas Live Oak, and then everyone moved inside to the Grande Ballroom for the cocktail reception and dinner. Jennifer’s parents spent many months working with the amazing team at The Secret Floral Garden on gorgeous decor and place settings, so when planning the timeline, we made sure that the new Mr & Mrs Miller got to experience it before everyone else. We are so glad we did, those five minutes produced some of the best pictures of the evening by the incredible Ama by Aisha.

After a delicious dinner of multiple salads and vegetables, red fish, chicken, carved to order beef tenderloin, and the Houstonian’s “all the way” mashed potatoes, the guests danced the night away thanks to The Matchmaker Band. Whenever they are performing there is never an open spot on the dance floor, and this wedding was no exception.

We knew everyone would be having such a great time with dancing and the custom neon sign photo booth, so we were prepared with almond and chocolate wedding cake from Susie’s cakes and mini desserts from The Houstonian. We had the traditional mini pecan pie, apple pie, and triple berry pie tarts, plus in a nod to Jennifer’s Peruvian heritage, we were sure to include plenty of alfajores. But there were no sugar highs for these guests, dessert was followed up with late night breakfast tacos and mini pizzas as well!!

After all that eating, it was time to finish out the night on the dance floor, starting with the Aggie War Hymn and ending with the bride and groom on the stage during the final song of “Shout” with a surprise ending of a confetti cannon!

It was a perfect blend of elegance and fun, and truly reflected Jennifer and Andy!

Congrats Mr & Mrs Miller!

Katrina + Robert's Ma Maison Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Because couples can get ready onsite, there are beautiful locations for outdoor ceremonies, and the ballroom offers plenty of opportunities to transform the room, we’re always eager to return to Ma Maison for wedding days in Dripping Springs! Katrina and Robert’s celebration was one we couldn’t wait for them to experience.

Katrina +Robert spent the morning of their wedding day getting ready in the suites at the venue. Just before their outdoor wedding ceremony, Katrina and her dad shared a sweet first look. Not too long after, guests began to gather outside to witness the moment when Katrina and Robert recited their vows. Not to mention, everyone also got to see Katrina+Robert’s adorable pup walk down the aisle!

Once they were officially married, Katrina and Robert explored the Ma Maison grounds with their photographer, Mike Reed Photo, to capture portraits together and with their wedding party and families. From beautiful structures to gorgeous grounds, there are so many locations to capture photos – something else we adore about Ma Maison. And, we also have to note how thrilled we were that Katrina and Robert were welcomed into life as a married couple with wonderful weather!

After photos and a cocktail or two, guests were welcomed into Ma Maison’s ballroom. The space was decked out in a palette of coral, blush, gold, and ivory. The bright pops of color looked perfect against the darker wood tones in the space. Plus, we always welcome florals in the same shades. Just’in Roses did an excellent job creating low and tall centerpieces that truly made the ballroom come alive!

Guests dined on a menu prepared by Crave Catering, and they also enjoyed cake by Iced Cakes. Our eyes immediately wandered to Katrina and Robert’s tiered floral cake, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention how fun Robert’s groom’s cake was. He loves to play PlayStation, so a controller was the perfect fit for his cake! Before the night came to a close, Katrina and Robert shared dances together, with their families, and with their guests.

We are so thrilled you were able to celebrate your wedding day, Katrina and Robert!

Haley + Tyler's Briar Club Wedding | Houston Wedding Coordinator

Haley was a “Covid Bride” so we were originally scheduled for her Wedding ceremony at a church with the reception being held at The Junior League of Houston. When we had to postpone, the Church and Junior League did not have dates that lined up and she decided the Church was more of a priority to her than the reception venue so we found a new venue which was The Briar Club.

As we got closer to the wedding date, the capacity restrictions were still extremely limited at The Church and she would only be able to have her immediate family attend the ceremony. Because of that, she opted to move everything to The Briar Club and do a room flip in the Main Ballroom.

The capacities at The Briar Club were then reduced as well so we could no longer do the room flip and maintain the capacity restrictions so we finally landed on Plan D - which was to have the ceremony in the main ballroom with the guests seated at their dinner tables and seating for immediate family members on the dance floor so she would still have an “aisle” to walk down.

This family went through SO many changes during the Covid rescheduling process as we also planned her sister’s wedding during the same period of time experiencing all the same ups and downs. We shared lots of laughs and tears throughout the process but Haley (and Tyler) handled everything with grace.

Haley and Tyler started their wedding days apart from each other with their wedding party at Hotel Zaza in the heart of the city. Then Haley and her bridesmaids, followed by Tyler and his groomsmen, were transported to The Briar Club to enjoy the rest of their day. When Haley arrived, the first thing she did was share a first look with her dad! Haley and Tyler opted not to see each other before their ceremony because they wanted their first glimpses of each other to be when she started to walk down the aisle.

When we were talking through details about Haley and Tyler’s wedding ceremony, we decided to introduce dashes of modern style that would pair with the timeless feel of the space where they would wed and celebrate later in the evening. A circular golden hoop featured bright pink flowers by F. Dellit Designs offset on the piece, and it offered just the right amount of color and whimsy. It was our favorite detail of the day, and it’s also the spot where Haley and her bridesmaids captured many of their photos!

Once they were officially announced as Mr. and Mrs., Haley and Tyler enjoyed dinner tucked away together. We always highly recommend that our couples use cocktail hour to enjoy their first meal together because this time ensures they’re able to take a quick break from their guests and enjoy each other’s company before the dancing begins.

Inside the ballroom, tall centerpieces by F. Dellit Designs filled with classic flowers, like dahlias, garden roses, and standard roses caught everyone’s eye throughout the night, thanks to their bright pink palette. Haley and Tyler’s wedding cake by Cakes by Gina also had their bright pink floral theme woven throughout, and their circular hoop served a new purpose as the backdrop for the DJ, Goldline Entertainment.

On the dance floor, Haley and Tyler shared their first dance together. Then, each danced with his or her parent before the floor was opened for the rest of the night. Haley even jumped behind the DJ booth! After the last song played, Haley and Tyler had one last memorable wedding moment together when their guests tossed confetti before they jumped into a pedicab.

Thank you so much to Agape House Studio for capturing every moment of Haley and Tyler’s day! We have loved sharing the images from this sweet celebration with you.

Erin + Grant's Mansion at Colovista Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

One of our favorite things about our couples is the ways in which they differ. No two pairs are ever quite the same, which means we’re always exploring new ways to transform venues, incorporate styles, and share our couples’ stories with their families and friends. It’s a joy every time! One particular style we’re always excited to explore is classic, and Erin and Grant’s Texas wedding day could not have been more timeliness.

While we were planning, Erin and Grant were quick to note they were drawn toward shades of ivory and emerald. Their chosen colors came together particularly through their florals, stationery, and bridesmaids’ dresses. The look was effortlessly beautiful, and The Mansion at ColoVista was the perfect spot to host such a classically Southern soiree.

Erin and Grant each spent their mornings on site prepping for the day ahead. Gaby Caskey Photography captured Erin’s jewelry together with the couple’s stationery suite, and the results are stunning. Then Erin put on her wedding dress for the first time on her wedding day, and she shared a first look with her dad and brothers before seeing Grant outside. Erin and Grant each read letters they wrote during their moment together before it was time to meet again at the top of the aisle.

Erin and Grant’s wedding ceremony was hosted outside at The Mansion at ColoVista. The Texas weather cooperated perfectly, and they enjoyed wonderful natural light from the moment Erin walked down the aisle on the arm of her father until she and Grant recessed back down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs.! We also have to note the gorgeous flowers Brenda Abbott Floral Design added to the arbor.

After their ceremony, Erin, Grant, and their guests sipped on cocktails while the finishing touches were placed inside the reception space. Tables included ivory centerpieces filled with lush blooms again by Brenda Abbott Floral Design, and we also had our first look at their wedding cake by Sweet Treats Bakery. We loved the flowers on their wedding cake, and we also loved Grant’s golf course themed groom’s cake!

Erin took special care to incorporate many extra touches to keep things “safe” and comfortable for their guests. They made stickers based on their dog’s personalities (Stu and Doug) for people to wear showing their level of comfort being around other guests. They also had custom hand sanitizer and masks available.

In lieu of a photobooth, they had disposable cameras all around the reception for guests to take pictures with (we secretly loved this because it was a throwback for us from when we started doing weddings years ago and pre-photobooth! ). Will definitely be a fun surprise when they get them all developed.

Once guests were welcomed inside, everyone dined on a menu created by El Jarro de Arturo. Erin and Grant also shared their first dance, and they joined together with their parents for individual dances. Then it was time for DJ Atlas to play and for guests to join in on the fun on the dance floor. The night couldn’t come to a close until Erin and Grant’s friends and family joined them outside for one final moment together as Erin + Grant ran through a tunnel lit up by sparklers. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful day!

A special note from Meredith: Erin and Grant were both friends of mine but I knew them separately before they got engaged. Grant and I went to high school together and Erin and I went to college together. We were all from San Antonio and Erin went to our rival high school but they didn’t connect until a little later on in life.

Jennifer + Michael's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Coordinator

As the seasons changed throughout the year in 2020, countless couples were making difficult decisions about their wedding days. As the fall approached, Jennifer and Michael knew what they wanted to do – they wanted to celebrate at Ma Maison. And, celebrate they did!

Jennifer + Michael pared back their original guest list, asked everyone to add a mask to their look, created pod seating for their ceremony space, kept guests distanced while dining during the reception, and hosted as much outside as possible. The health of their guests and their team of wedding professionals was at the forefront of their day, and everyone could not have been more grateful for each and every measure they took to keep their crew safe!

Jennifer and Michael’s wedding day began during their getting ready sessions with their respective wedding party and family members. Before they saw each other for the first time, Jennifer incorporated a sweet first look tradition but it had a twist! Rather than doing a first look solely with her dad, she renamed it a “family first look” and asked her brother and mom to join in as well. The photos of Jennifer and her whole family captured by Josh and Dana Fernandez during this moment are so sweet! Then Jennifer and Michael saw each other for the first time in the beautiful lawns of Ma Maison.

As we mentioned, pod seating was incorporated into Jennifer + Michael’s ceremony, which occurred outside at The Grove. The natural light was beautiful during this point of their day, and the sun streamed into portraits captured throughout their vow exchange perfectly. Wild Bunches also added an arch of blooms above to create an even more gorgeous setting.

Once they were officially married, Jennifer and Michael were joined by their families and wedding party to capture photos throughout Ma Maison’s property grounds. The only way to describe these portraits is to say they are stunning! The trees and water backdrops were showing off for these two, and they deserved every moment.

At the reception, guests were greeted by a collection of long and round tables, both inside the Great Hall and under the Trellis. The tables featured a mixture of candles and greenery, floral centerpieces, or tall floral arrangements with loose greenery garlands. Plus, Wild Bunches also added greenery along the staircase and banister above. Not only was the reception space revealed, but Jennifer also revealed her reception dress after she and Michael shared their first dance. Her beaded gown was perfect for dancing and fun!

Guests dined on a menu created by Crave Catering, and they safely joined together on the dance floor for plenty of songs played by Infinity Sounds Lab. Before the end of the night, Jennifer and Michael cut their cake by Classy Cakes by Lori and wove through their guests once more during their sparkler exit.

Jennifer + Michael, we are so happy you asked us to coordinate your wedding day, and we could not be more thrilled that you’re officially married!

Jacob + Kendrah's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Full Service Planner

We plan, design, and coordinate for our couples and their guests at a variety of wedding venues throughout Texas, and we’re always thrilled when we get to return to Ma Maison. Located in  Dripping Springs, outside of Austin, Ma Maison offers indoor and outdoor spaces where couples can celebrate their wedding ceremonies and receptions, and each of the spaces are uniquely stunning in their own ways. Kendrah and Jacob hosted both their ceremony and reception at Ma Maison during the height of the summer (they originally planned to host earlier in the year, but had to postpone due to COVID), and we are so thrilled to be able to relive their 2020 wedding with you today.

Despite the planning hiccups due to the Pandemic, we first have to say that Kendrah and Jacob are seriously two of the happiest and most in love couples we have ever seen! They were just so hopeful and happy to be getting married!

Kendrah and her family and bridesmaids arrived at Ma Maison during the morning of her wedding day to get ready on site. Whenever possible, we always recommend getting ready at your wedding venue, particularly if it has beautiful natural light, because you can enjoy a much more leisurely morning with more time to sip mimosas.

Rather than seeing Jacob during a first look prior to their wedding ceremony, Kendrah shared a  first look with her bridesmaids and her dad. Both moments were sweet for different reasons –  Kendrah’s bridesmaids were so visibly thrilled for her, and Kendrah’s dad was overcome with emotion. We loved both!

K+J recited their vows underneath the Texas sun outside in the garden (under the grove) at Ma  Maison. Exquisite Petals adorned their outdoor altar with bright blooms that matched their color palette of cornflower blue, bright pink, peach, and ivory. After they were officially married,  one of Kendrah and Jacob’s first fun to-dos was to ring the bell! After, they captured photographs with Melissa Glynn Photography and their families and wedding party throughout Ma Maison’s gorgeous property.

While Kendrah and Jacob were capturing photos, guests retreated into cocktail hour before they were welcomed inside Ma Maison for the reception. To keep the theme of stunning flowers going, Exquisite Petals adorned tables with low and tall centerpieces. We particularly loved  Kendrah and Jacob’s long head table that featured low arrangements of greenery and tall centerpieces of flowers. Above, chandeliers glowed overhead.

After dining on a menu prepared by SoHo Catering, Kendrah and Jacob spent the rest of the night on the dance floor with their guests and their DJ, Full Scope Entertainment. Their first dance was to “When I’m With You” by Ben Rector, “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole played as they cut their cake, and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley served as the final song of the night as Kendrah and Jacob shared a private final dance.

Before Kendrah and Jacob left their soiree, guests were presented with Honey Butter Chicken  Biscuits from Whataburger as a late-night treat. Then K+J were celebrated one more time with a  sparkler sendoff. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful wedding day!

Tina + Henry's Wedding at the Vineyards at Chappel Lodge | Austin Wedding Designer & Full Service Planner

Throughout the year, we have planned and re-planned weddings and made countless recommendations for our couples. When their celebrations finally arrive, we still feel the same sense of excitement we always experience as they are about to recite their vows and celebrate with their guests. However, given the year we’ve experienced, weddings that are forging ahead, despite the obstacles, are even more joyful than usual. We also definitely feel a sense of relief when the day finally arrives and goes off without a hitch! 2020 has taught us all the value of safely spending time with our favorite people, and it’s also taught us how to be creative. We think both are beautifully on display throughout Tina and Henry’s summer wedding.

Tina and Henry’s wedding festivities kicked off the way most wedding weekends do – with their rehearsal. The next day, they each spent their mornings getting ready onsite at their beautiful Austin wedding venue, Vineyards at Chappel Lodge. It was a wonderful decision to make because everyone could enjoy a much more leisurely morning and early afternoon.

Before their outdoor ceremony, Tina and Henry chose to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. They explored many of the outdoor settings together with their photographer, Amy of AL Gawlick Photography, and their adorable dog, Zoey, joined them too! One of the biggest benefits of choosing to do a first look is the photographer can also capture many wedding party and family photos in advance. That means there’s more time for couples to enjoy their cocktail hour!

Tina and Henry’s wedding color palette consisted of beautiful shades of ivory, green, and dusty blue. All of their colors were displayed on their chuppah, which was draped in ivory fabric and adorned with blooms by Exquisite Petals. With their ceremony underway, Henry waited for Tina while she walked down the aisle on the arms of both of her parents – (a nod to Henry’s Jewish heritage and one we have long loved). Then they recited their vows, officiated by a father and a cantor, in front of their intimate group of family members and friends before recessing back down the aisle as a married pair.

After their ceremony, Tina and Henry took to Zoom to celebrate their marriage with their guests who joined from afar. A champagne toast was definitely necessary! Then they captured more photos with their wedding party, family, and photographer. We have to note the light; it was beautiful!

The celebrations continued in their tent where tables were again adorned with ivory and dusty blue blooms paired with greenery by Exquisite Blooms. The look was fresh – a perfect late summer statement! Everyone dined on a menu created by Royal Fig Catering, and guests also joined throughout the night on Zoom. We even had one speech offered all the way from Qatar!

Tina and Henry, we loved joining together with your team to plan your wedding. It was memorable for all of the best reasons during a year when we all need wonderful reasons to smile. We look forward to celebrating with you again when BIG parties are given the all-clear. Until then, congratulations again for making it official!

Sydney + Jake's Ma Maison's Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Planner

This year, we think the joy of a wedding day feels more poignant than ever before. We love witnessing as our couples celebrate with their family and friends, and we’re forever happy to witness guests leaning into fun on the dance floor. Gatherings may look and perhaps even feel different, but the message behind them is still the same: love is always in style.

Sydney and Jake celebrated their late summer wedding day in September, and we adored working with them as we styled and planned their day. One of the things they wanted to focus on was creating an environment and a series of events that made their guests feel celebrated. So, the day before their wedding, Sydney treated her bridesmaids and close ladies in her family to brunch. We’re certain this time together felt sweet and intentional! Then, Sydney, Jake, and their families and wedding party gathered together for their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

The next day, the future Mr. and Mrs. spent their mornings getting ready with their respective wedding party and family members. Rather than doing a traditional first look with her groom, Sydney chose to do a series of first looks. First, she revealed her gorgeous wedding dress, complete with an incredible bow detail on the back, to her bridesmaids. Then, she shared a first look with her dad. Finally, she saw her brothers for the first time. We loved the focus she placed on her family!

During their ceremony, Sydney met Jake at the top of the aisle where they recited their vows in front of their family and friends. They chose to celebrate both their ceremony and reception in the same place, so these first moments were shared at Ma Maison. We would be remiss if we didn’t note the monogram that awaited S+J outside of the ceremony doors, and we also loved the candles and petals by Last Petal that lined the aisle. Plus, the natural light that streamed into the space was incredible!

Once they were officially married, Sydney and Jake stepped away together to enjoy their first meal as a couple alone. Although it’s tempting to share every moment with your guests, opting to eat together is a wonderful choice. It ensures you’re able to eat (!), and you can also share meaningful conversation uninterrupted. After all, you’ve just experienced a huge life change!

Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before being welcomed into the reception space for dinner and dancing. The style of the centerpieces by Last Petal in the ballroom alternated between fresh white flowers in tall vases, candles paired with greenery, and bouquets from the bridesmaids. The variation added interest, and the gold signs created a custom look and feel.

Love and Happiness made sure there was plenty of dancing, including Sydney and Jake’s first dance and parent dances, and guests were happy to join them on the floor. Before the night could conclude, S+J cut their wedding cake by Sweet Treats Bakery, listened to toasts, and made sure to spend even more time on the dance floor.

Sydney and Jake, we loved working with you to plan your Ma Maison wedding day! Everything about it represented your story beautifully, and it was so wonderful to witness your family and friends joining together to make sure you felt completely loved.

Lara + Robbie’s Hotel Saint Cecilia Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

This year has looked different than any of us thought it would, but that has (thankfully!) not cancelled love. We have still been planning and coordinating celebrations for our couples, and we were honored to work together with Lara and Robbie to plan their micro wedding at Austin’s Hotel Saint Cecilia.

Although they represent a different plan than was perhaps originally intended, micro weddings are intimate and thoughtful. They welcome heartfelt conversations and encourage couples and their guests to linger longer together over dinner. They still welcome designs, and we think the details stand out even more because micro weddings create a feeling of luxury in a space that feels cozier. And, Lara’s design and details, which she described to Claire Cassner Photography as “beautiful, natural, a little bit wild and funky, not neatly tied together with a bow” definitely fit the bill!

On their wedding day, both Lara and Robbie enjoyed slow mornings spent with their family and wedding party. Robbie got ready at his parent’s house with his groomsmen, while Lara and her bridesmaids started their day with brunch at Café No Se. Hair and makeup got underway in the early afternoon, and before she met Robbie at the end of the aisle, she shared a first look with her dad.

Guests were seated outdoors in the garden at Hotel Saint Cecilia for the ceremony, which had two oak trees decked out in blooms serving as the backdrop. Lara walked down the aisle with her dad, and we’re certain she felt beautiful as she revealed her sleeved lace wedding dress to her guests and Robbie for the first time. They recited their vows and were announced as married before recessing down the aisle and joining together with their families to capture portraits.

Lara and Robbie still wanted to honor a few of the traditions of a larger, more formal reception, so they were introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Canon before the Royal Dukes Band played a rendition of “Tupelo Honey” by Van Morrison for their first dance. After dancing, the couple and their guests dined alfresco on a menu created by Hotel Saint Cecilia. As we mentioned, a natural and beautiful design was important to Lara and Robbie, so tables included centerpieces with anemones, roses, and zinnias. We loved the bold and whimsical pops of color!

Before the night came to a close, Lara and Robbie cut their cake. They also danced with their guests to the final song of the night – a wonderful rendition of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston – before their guests held sparklers in the air to send Lara and Robbie off as an officially married couple.

Lara and Robbie, we loved working with you and your incredible team of vendors. Your day was one we won’t soon forget because you embraced changes while still thoughtfully honoring the design you had in mind as well as your relationship.

The Ultimate Backyard Picnic: Intimate Anniversary Celebration, Austin

Pandemic event planning? We have you covered! No event is too small- Ryan and Annie’s anniversary celebration is proof that sometimes celebrating at home is better than anywhere else!

Ryan’s executive assistant, Elsie, contacted us Monday afternoon for an intimate event 72 hours later.

We acted quickly, creating a design board that included a custom tent and white flooring from Premiere, collaborating with Stems on everything from table-for-2 to the greenery-wrapped festoon lighting to reflect off of the white flooring, pulling in custom monogrammed napkins that we were able to source locally through Budaful Threads, and customizing a 3-course menu with Austin Catering. It was so fun! Ryan and Annie were thrilled.

Avery + Kyle's Houston Crystal Ballroom Wedding | Houston Wedding Coordinator

Avery and Kyle’s wedding at the Crystal Ballroom in Houston was lovely, romantic and sophisticated!

Avery and Kyle hosted their ceremony at St. Luke’s UMC. As Avery processed down the aisle with her father, her stunning cathedral length veil cascading behind her, Kyle beamed from ear to ear. St. Lukes is a beautiful church and worked well for their almost 200 person guest list.

The couple got engaged in Paris, which influenced their design/decor choices.

Their reception was held at the Crystal Ballroom in Houston. This historic venue is located in downtown Houston in what was formerly the Rice Hotel. The venue has spectacular crystal chandeliers, 35-foot ceilings and a full wraparound terrace. It’s also huge- the 5,600 square foot event space and the adjunct 1,400 square foot parlor provide ample room for up to 250 guests. If you want a grande wedding with traditional yet opulent vibes, Crystal Ballroom can deliver!

You’ll see little hints of Paris in the reception design (like the cake and cake topper and lock & key escort card display).  Kyle actually made the “lock & key” escort card display himself- that is some DIY we can get down with!

The day was everything they dreamed for and we’re so happy for them!

Erin & David's Bell Tower on 34th Wedding | Houston Wedding Coordinator

When we think about Erin and David’s Bell Tower on 34th wedding, pretty in pink comes to mind! This feminine fete was frilly and fabulous.

Erin and David’s wedding was a truly joyful day. We’re pretty sure Erin didn’t stop smiling once- she’s a bubbly and beautiful personality that embraced the celebration.

One of our favorite things about this wedding is that as elegant as it was, it was also full of personality. There was a carefree quality about the day that sticks with us- anytime a couple wants a balloon arch AND elaborate florals, we’re down for the challenge! It all came together better than we could have imagined.

Robert and Ben's Hughes Manor Wedding | Houston Wedding Coordinator

As we draft this post, it’s Pride month. But we’re also in the middle of a Pandemic, civil unrest (due to the George Floyd case and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter Movement) and an even more recent failed attempt to negatively affect health-care legislation for the LGBTQ community.

To say that 2020 has proven to be one of the most profound and intense of our time & career could be an understatement. Although we don’t usually preface our posts with current events, it feels important to recognize that moments in history like this have a huge impact on weddings. Couples are persevering in tumultuous times. LOVE is powerful and worth fighting for.

It is an honor to have a diverse mix of clients- every walk of life, every race, gender, creed and culture is accepted and welcomed into our family.

It is a privilege to evolve in our business and to find ways to serve our couples and the wedding community. We advocate for equal rights in our community and hope that our couples know that we’ll continue to advocate for them.

Robert and Ben recently celebrated their first anniversary, so we want to first wish them a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and second, they recently celebrated the birth of their son! Congratulations all around, as we’re so excited to share their beautiful celebration with you!

These two were so much fun to work with- and their friends and family were equally awesome. The ceremony was conveniently held outside at Hughes Manor- they exchanged vows outside in perfect weather and then headed inside for the reception.

Hughes Manor has a beautiful design with gorgeous architectural design & details. We were able to play off of the existing decor to create a classic, clean wedding style that was romantic and masculine.

It was truly a PARTY with amazing food, lively entertainment (The Pictures Band came in from Austin) and a packed dance floor. The night wrapped with a festive second line.

Congrats again, you two! Wishing you all the best today and always.

Brittany + Jason's Allan House Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

Brittany and Jason came from different worlds but met in the middle for their new beginning together. She’s a biology teacher who grew up on Long Island, and he’s a lawyer from Texas who was pulled to NYC for law school. Together with the help of her sister, Elissa, and Something to Celebrate (we also handled the design portion), they planned a Texas wedding that celebrated their combined cultures and interfaith traditions.

Jason also serves as commander in the National Guard, and used obtaining that position as part of his proposal plan! He took Brittany to their favorite restaurant in Manhattan, Del Posto, to celebrate his recent promotion but as soon as they approached the restaurant he said “We aren’t here to celebrate me ... we are here to celebrate us! Will you marry me???”

In designing the look and feel of Brittany and Jason’s wedding, the group unanimously agreed that The Allen House, with its canopy of oaks centrally located in Austin, would be the perfect backdrop for the celebration.

The neutral palette of whites and greens was rich with textures from their custom-ordered linens and mismatched vintage glassware, paired with floral china and wooden chargers banded by satin napkins. The chuppah sat beneath chandeliers trailing strings of Edison bulb lights.

Their elegant yet laid-back and FUN celebration featured stunning place settings for their robust menu consisting of everything from the bride’s favorite mini hotdogs and southern deviled egg biscuits, to Ribeye steaks and honey fried chicken, after guests were greeted with bubbles from a champagne cart. After the wedding cake and ice cream cookie sandwiches paired with custom cappuccinos, guests parted with late-night snacks of grilled cheese sandwiches and junior Whataburgers.

The dance floor was never empty, as captured by the graffiti-styled live painter, and the bride herself took to the mic a couple of times- we just can’t resist a good Radio Gaga!

We could go on and on about the flawless celebration these two hosted, but the most memorable aspect of the day was no doubt the love shared between all who were gathered. With warm hugs and sincere smiles, the love that brought these two worlds together was united as one. Congratulations, Brittany and Jason!

Emilie + Peter's Big Sky Barn Wedding | Houston Wedding Designer & Planner

While they were planning their wedding, Emilie and Peter hoped to find a wedding venue that combined modern style with a rustic aesthetic. They could not have found a more perfect spot to celebrate than Big Sky Barn. The space is located just over an hour outside of Houston, perfectly situated between the city and The Woodlands, and it served as the ultimate destination for E+P to recite their vows and celebrate with their guests during their ceremony and reception.

One of the greatest perks of Big Sky Barn is couples can spend their mornings onsite getting ready. This helps to create an even more relaxed atmosphere, which we could both see and feel while Emilie and her bridesmaids prepped for the day ahead. Sunkissed & Made Up were on hand for hair and makeup, and the gals looked so happy and content in their robes for the morning!

Rather than seeing Peter during a first look, Emilie and her dad shared a first look together. The moment was sweet, and we’re certain it helped to calm any nerves Emilie may have been feeling. Plus, knowing Emilie and Peter had yet to see each other until her walk down the aisle added an extra layer of fun and excitement to their ceremony!

Emilie and Peter’s ceremony was hosted inside at Big Sky Barn, which was a wonderful choice because of the weather (they celebrated in August, after all!) and because the architecture inside the barn is stunning. Plenty of natural light filled the space, thanks to the large windows located throughout, and we loved the deep stained wooden beams layered throughout the ceiling. Emilie and Peter chose to accent the space thoughtfully with help from their florist, Last Petal, who added greenery with ribbon along the aisle and an arch filled with roses and eucalyptus to act as an additional backdrop.

Emilie is a veterinarian so their dog,  Oliver, who is absolutely adorable, had to be included in the festivities. His walk down the aisle elicited plenty of awes. And of course, when Emilie followed, there were plenty of happy tears shed!

Post ceremony, Emilie and Peter stepped outside with their photographer, The Silhouette Studio, to capture couple’s portraits as sunset neared. Golden hour is known as one of the best times to capture photos because the light is even warmer, and we think the results are beautiful! Big Sky Barn’s property is as fabulous as its interior. Post photos, E+P rejoined their guests inside the barn for their reception. Last Petal adorned round and long tables with alternating looks between lanterns encircled with greenery and dahlias that matched the bouquets and long greenery garlands, respectively. The blooms and greens felt rustic, but they also matched the couple’s desired modern style.

Whether we were witnessing Emilie and Peter share their first dance together or their dances with their parents, celebrate their cake cutting or enjoy the menu prepared by City View Catering, spend plenty of time of the dance floor with family and friends or step outside to enjoy a cigar, E+P’s wedding was a complete delight from beginning to end. We are so grateful The Silhouette Studio captured every moment for us to share with you!

Dixie & Jason's The Allan House Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

One of the best seasons of the year in Texas is the fall. Though we typically don’t experience the brilliant foliage colors or more drastic temperature changes as our friends up north, we do witness the beautiful warm glow that the sun casts in the early evening. That glow was on full display for Dixie and Jason’s Austin wedding day, and it made their tent at Allan House even more beautiful. But, before we dive too far into the details, allow us to share more about Dixie and Jason.

First, we have to say- Dixie and Jason are two of the sweetest people we’ve ever met! They both have hearts of gold and serve our country and community in different ways (Dixie as a nurse and Jason as a Marine). It was a privilege to work with the two of them and their kind personalities lit US up!

On their wedding day, D+J each spent their mornings getting ready with their wedding party. They opted against a first look and instead saw each other for the first time when she walked down the aisle on the arm of her dad at Saint Mary Cathedral. With its towering wooden front doors and beautiful interior, we cannot think of a more fitting location for Dixie and Jason to recite their vows and officially become Mr. and Mrs.! While they were planning, D+J made one of their wishes very clear: They wanted to make sure to do a sword ceremony. It was one of the ways to honor his position in the Marines, and one of our favorite moments of their wedding was witnessing their shared arch moment post-ceremony.

Once they were at Allan House, Dixie and Jason caught their first glimpse of their wedding reception location. Clear top tents always have their own magic, especially during the fall when the temperatures have dropped slightly, and the space simply glowed later in the evening. Tree trunks were wrapped in string lights, chandeliers hung overhead (another favorite detail), and tables were lined with a stunning mixture of candles and merlot, ivory, and navy centerpieces with touches of gold by Exquisite Petals.   We LOVE the touches of velvet too!

After they enjoyed cocktail hour, Dixie, Jason, and their guests joined together for a night filled with great food, thanks to Salt Lick, and plenty of dancing while Drywater Texas played. Watching guests mingle together in a beautiful setting and then jump onto the dance floor is one of our favorite things about planning – events are meant to be enjoyed by everyone.

Before the night came to a close, Dixie and Jason walked through an arch one more time. But, this time it was an arch created by sparklers held by all of their close friends and family. It was the perfect way to end their wedding day, and we’re so thrilled to be able to share all of the moments The Bird & The Bear captured with you.

Lauren + Duc's St. Regis Houston Wedding | Houston Wedding Designer + Planner

Whether we are hired for design and planning or simply planning, we always want to create a wedding that truly reflects the couple and their story together. And, Lauren and Duc’s story is one that is so sweet and fun! Lauren and Duc are technically high school sweethearts except for one small detail – Lauren was not allowed to date until after graduation. So, together with their friends, we referred to L+D’s pre-graduation relationship as one in which they were “just friends”. We were delighted when L+D’s friends took the stage, so to speak, during the reception to honor the newly married pair. They offered sweet and funny antidotes about Lauren and Duc’s relationship, which they witnessed forming before L+D could officially be “official”. Listening in made us feel as though we knew this wonderful pair even more!

Before they got ready for their ceremony and reception, Lauren and Duc started their wedding day by participating in a traditional Buddhist ceremony with their immediate families. While we were not present during this ceremony, we loved seeing the photos and learning the details from Lauren and Duc throughout the rest of their day. Post ceremony, they each spent the rest of their mornings and early afternoons prepping for their Catholic ceremony at St. Michael Catholic Church later in the evening.

Once they were officially married, Lauren and Duc kicked off their celebration by taking portraits with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The gray and deep blue palette of the dresses and suits paired with the soft pinks in the bouquets looked beautiful against the Houston sun in their portraits! Guests mingled together during cocktail hour at The St. Regis Houston before the reception was revealed. Inside, tables featured more beautiful blooms by SCF Events in alternating low and tall centerpieces, and we loved how L+D’s sweetheart table overflowed with blooms placed on top of a deep grey linen. The look was striking!

Lauren and Duc made their grand entrance into their reception, and Duc rarely left the dance floor for the rest of the night. He frequently borrowed the microphone from DJ S Entertainment to rap and keep the energy levels high for guests to stay on the dance floor with him. It worked! We also think the ways in which the couple honored Houston – a beautiful painting of the Houston skyline served as a guest book and L+D treated guests to late night ice cream and pizza from Milk + Sugar Creamery and Pinks Pizza, respectively – added to the celebratory atmosphere. Duc said he wanted a fun party, and he and Lauren definitely worked together to make that a reality!

As you can tell, we absolutely loved working together with Lauren and Duc, so we are thrilled to be able to relive their wedding day thanks to the gorgeous images Allen Tsai Photography captured.

Amanda + Michael's Villa Antonia Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

It’s safe to say one of the most feminine and romantic wedding color palettes will always be shades of blush paired with ivory and gold. The colors can combine effortlessly for classic soirees in ballrooms just as easily as those celebrated outside, and the pairing was beautiful for Amanda and Michael’s wedding at Villa Antonia. Located in Texas Hill Country outside of Austin, Villa Antonia boasts incredible views and lovely spaces for ceremonies and receptions. With that in mind, we weren’t surprised when Amanda and Michael revealed they wanted to celebrate all of their day’s biggest moments in the same location.

Before Amanda walked down the aisle toward Michael, the two spent their mornings getting ready with their respective bridesmaids and groomsmen. We particularly love the photos Julie Wilhite captured of Amanda opening her wedding gift from Michael as well as the moment she put on her dress for the first time. Her gown was gorgeous, and Amanda looked stunning in it!

Wedding Ceremony

Guests were welcomed to Amanda and Michael’s ceremony by a custom chalk sign outfitted in florals by Stems. And, the incredible floral display only continued throughout the space! Our favorite detail was the arch where Amanda and Michael recited their vows. It was overflowing in beautiful blooms, including plenty of roses, that made the space feel as though we were witnessing a ceremony in an outdoor garden.

Wedding Reception

Post ceremony, guests gathered together to sip and mingle during cocktail hour while Amanda and Michael escaped onto the Villa Antonia’s balconies to capture couple’s portraits during sunset. A+M could not have had a more perfect wedding day sunset, and the colors of the sky combined with the beautiful views allowed for a number of fabulous moments to unfold for Julie to capture.

Inside the reception space, A+M’s sweetheart table overflowed with flowers, tall centerpieces awaited guests on their tables, and an outdoor dance floor was revealed. Together, Amanda, Michael, and their guests dined on a menu created by Rosemary’s, enjoyed cake by Simon Lee Bakery, and spent plenty of time dancing under the string lights thanks to the sounds of IN10CITY.

Amanda and Michael, working together with you and Stems to design your dream day was an honor, and we were so happy to plan every detail before and while your wedding was unfolding.

Carolyn + Simon's Hotel Ella Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Carolyn and Simon’s Hotel Ella was hosted on a gorgeous October day. This wedding doesn’t look anything like the fall season and as some might say, we’re here for it. This wedding feels like a refreshing spring day with all the elegant details of a formal winter wedding. Seriously, we love how beautifully the styles from this wedding blended. If Southern Weddings was still around, it could have been plucked right out the pages of any of their issues!

Wedding Dresses

Carolyn and her ladies were absolutely stunning. Carolyn’s fitted, off the shoulder fit and flare was perfection. The classic navy dresses on the bridesmaids were a vision with the pops of pink, yellow, orange and soft blue from the bouquets. Speaking of bouquets, the pink peonies are everything, don’t you think?! Man oh man. It’s hard to beat the beauty of a peony.

Personal Details

We adore how Carolyn and Simon incorporated their sweet pup through their bar signage. The monogram of “The Hieberts” on the greenery outside was fabulous! We also love that they selected a band - they knew their crowd was going to want to party it up. They may have even jumped up on stage a time or two. It was so much fun seeing them really ENJOY the day and stay in the moment!

Mina + Khalid's Brenner’s on the Bayou Wedding | Houston Wedding Planner

Intimate weddings are on the rise and we’re here for it! Don’t get us wrong, we love a lavish & large wedding too. But there is something magical about gathering your closest friends and family together to celebrate. It also takes a ton of pressure off of our couples to focus solely on what is absolutely the most important thing to them.

Mina and Khalid are the sweetest people- working with them was so easy! They selected Brenner’s on the Bayou in Houston for their wedding. The patio has quite a “treehouse” feel and the adorable gazebo in the garden is perfect for a small group (although it can accommodate much larger as well).

It was pouring down rain during the entire setup and came to a stop about an hour before the ceremony and it was perfect! The rain held off right until the bride and groom were ready to leave.

We seriously love how the design came together.

The classic ivory, white, gold and blush color palette looked stunning amid the greenery surround at Brenner’s. The greenery + hanging candle installation in the ceiling was perfection and we LOVE the tablescape’s glamorous pops of gold.

Despite the potential for weather to have derailed their plan A, everything came together beautifully and they were able to celebrate the day in exactly the way they had hoped!
