Accessories: Belts | Texas Wedding Planners

Belts are an adorable accessory to add to your wedding dress if you are looking for a little more sparkle, ruffles, flowers, or color. Belts also can be a cute way to distinguish your maid of honor or are the perfect accessory if you want a way to dress up or change all the bridesmaids dresses. Below are some cute examples!

Happy Planning!

Ideas to Celebrate: Bar Cart!! | Texas Wedding Planners

When you look at "wedding stuff" all the time, it's so refreshing to see an idea that feels new and different. So, imagine my excitement when I saw this brilliant idea: a rolling bar cart. It put me over the moon! This particular one features bubbly with various flavorings and herbs, but you could do it with Mimosas or Bloody Mary's for a brunch fete, or even Martinis for a party with a '20's vibe. I love this!

Cheers to fresh ideas!

Engagements to Celebrate: Christel and Geoff, San Luis Resort and The Sacred Heart Church | Galveston Wedding Planner

Christel and Geoff are an adorable couple that I am so happy to work with! They are high school sweet hearts and have a precious baby girl, who is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. They are having their ceremony at The Sacred Heart Church and their reception at The San Luis Resort, both on Galveston Island. Their engagement pictures were taken on Galveston Island by David Miyauchi from Delight Studio. Enjoy!

Weddings to Celebrate: Kate & Cavan, Mercury Hall Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

Kate and Cavan got married last September at Mercury Hall. Cavan is Louisiana born and bred and plays in a Cajun band and Kate is a photographer who owns a boudoir photography boutique here in town (translation: fun people!). Their wedding was all about the party and celebrating with the people they love most. From the bright, saturated colors to the music by Dale Watson (with a song by Cavan and his band mate, of course), every detail reflected their vibrant and fun-loving personalities.

It was a blast working with Kate and her mom (who reminded me so much of my own mom!), and I hope y'all had the best time.

Thank you for letting me be a part of such a fun day. I wish you many joyful days ahead!

Team Retreat for Austin and Houston Wedding Planners

We've just returned from a charming farm house just outside of Round Top, TX, where we spent the weekend with both the Austin and Houston offices for our annual educational retreat.

Such a full weekend! Resha and I shared with the team some of the finer points of The Special Event conference we attended in Chicago. The interns tried their hands at creating custom designs for mock weddings. Wedding photographer Chip Gillespie joined us for a quick photoshoot in Round Top. And we enjoyed each others' company over a glass (or two) of wine. I'm already looking forward to next year's retreat!

Cheers!

Love Written In A Poem | Unique Wedding Ideas for Austin and Houston Wedding Planning

Recent newlyweds, Carrie and James, hired a poet to express their love for one another prior to Carrie walking down the isle. The poem that Tydric Martin read to the audience created a unique dialogue about the couple, painting a picture of their past and the journey they were to continue as newlyweds. Tydric's poetry displayed a unique introduction into the ceremony. Usually, the bride and groom invite a close friend or family member to read religious scripture or quotes that communicate personal meaning for the couple. However, the poet provided a unique twist to this common practice and set the tone for the rest of the joyous ceremony. Tydric wrote the poem with the special couple in mind, providing a glimpse into the love shared between the couple that would soon be joined together forever.

Weddings to Celebrate: Megan & Gabe, Private Ranch | Wimberley Wedding Planner

Megan and Gabe tied the knot at a lovely private ranch in Wimberley (ah-maze view!!). Their celebration was all about friends and family enjoying time together and enjoying the gorgeous natural beauty. Guests were welcome to stay at the ranch house, along with the bride and groom, for a weekend of hangin' out. There were board games, good food (Maudie's! Bola Pizza!), plenty of cocktails and a variety of music. It was one of those groups where you got the feeling that everyone truly enjoyed each other's company, which is part of what makes this job fun--taking the stress and unknowns out of the situation so you can enjoy your people and celebrate the moment!

Enjoy the breathtaking hill country views shot by Debra Gulbas Photography, they will make you glad to be a Texan (or at least get to live here:).

Megan and Gabe, I wish y'all many years of happiness! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day.

The trees on the property were gorgeous!

The groom getting a haircut, with the couple's dog Apple

The groom's mother is a potter and she made each guest a one-of-a-kind cup with Megan and Gabe's initials on the bottom.

Yep, that's a saw player for the ceremony music

Megan and Gabe enjoying one of the signature cocktails: Vodka, pineapple juice, basil and Topo Chico. Yum!

Weddings to Celebrate: Lynn & Charles, Part 2 | Houston Wedding Planning and Design

The wonderful Kenny Kim sent me more of his detail shots from Lynn & Charles' wedding, and I couldn't resist posting some of them for you.  Feast your eyes on this awesomeness!!!

Everyone is watching the Maid-of-Honor's toast - via recording.  She was out-of-the-country and her flight was cancelled at the last minute.

I can't tell you again, how much fun it was to help with the decor and planning for this awesome couple.  It was definitely one for the books!

Rehearsal Dinners to Celebrate: Jackelyn & Zachary | Houston Wedding Planner

A couple of weeks ago, I blogged Jackelyn & Zachary's awesome wedding pictures.  Now check out the rehearsal dinner the groom's parents hosted at The Swinging Door.  AKA:  The "tailgate before the big game."  I wish I could take credit for this one ... but the creative genius behind it was Zachary's mother.  She came up with everything :-)

Chip Gillespie, as always, rocked the pictures.

Yes, those are t-shirts that doubled as chair covers.  And the guests got to take them home.

Everyone had a blast!  It was the perfect way to start off the weekend's festivities.

Weddings to Celebrate :: Jenica and Nathan, Mercury Hall Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

Ahh, I loved working with this Trio! Nathan, Jenica, and her mom Anya, were such a delight. Meetings with fun clients just fly by! And it's so gratifying to help them have an amazing wedding day.

Both teachers, Nathan is a band geek, and Jenica a chic French mademoiselle (well, now a madame, I suppose). And their wedding had it all - a full orchestra for the ceremony playing Nathan's custom arrangements of Mahler and Bernstein, a roving magician during cocktail hour, table games and singing contests, to a variety show burlesque style! For sure, this wedding was anything but typical, and quite fabulously fun.

Nathan and Jenica - may your marriage be just as fun! Thank you for trusting me with your day. :)

xoxo,

jessica

Wedding Favors | Texas Wedding Planners

Wedding favors are an amazing way for guests to remember your wonderful day. A wedding favor provides a memento for your guests to take home and reflect on the lovely day they shared with you. I love when wedding favors reflect a couple. Wedding favors could remind the guests of your shared interest with your significant other, the wedding theme, cultural traditions, or religious beliefs. The list could go on. Make your wedding favor something special, even though it is small, it can definitely add that special touch on the end of the night.

My cousin provided CD's of her and her husbands favorite songs. I loved this idea, because you learn more about the couple on a personal level. Plus, the CD is full of songs that the bride and groom both enjoy. A CD is something that a guest can use for a long time, and every time the CD is played they are reminded of your wonderful day.

Another great way to remind guests of your special day is having a wedding favor that reflects the location of the party. If you have a wedding in Vegas, chocolate shaped poker chips will definitely remind them of your wonderful occasion. If you are planning on being married at the beach, a nautical themed wedding favor provides that extra spark for your guests.

Another amazing gift to send guests off with is a sample of  your favorite food or condiment. A food or condiment is also a great way to share a treasure from a particular culture. For example, a family from Texas could send their guests off with their favorite BBQ sauce, or hot sauce.

Another great idea is sharing your favorite hobby with your guests. A couple who loves to golf  together could send a new golf ball and tee with their wedding date stamped on the side. A hobby shared together is the best kind and sharing it with your guests is even better.
