Weddings to Celebrate: Erin & Steven, part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted some teaser pictures from Erin & Steven's January wedding (click here to see those).  Now I get to share more from their beautiful wedding day.  This was such a fun wedding to plan!  I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures as much as I enjoyed helping them with the planning.  :)  Special thanks to Akil Bennett for capturing their day in a gorgeous way.

Relaxing before "show time"

The first look.  Just the bride, groom, photographer and videographer.  :)

I can't decide which I liked more:  the dress or the veil.

Quite possibly my favorite tablescape, ever.

When Tony's Resturant staff mentioned they had wine crates, I had to throw them into the mix.  Love this dessert table.

The guests were surprised with a same-day edit of the wedding ceremony (which ones a small ceremony for just family).  We showed it just before toasts.  So fun!!

Weddings to Celebrate: Brittney & Jimmy at Amber Springs

Brittney & Jimmy's gorgeous summer wedding was held at Amber Springs in Montgomery, TX. Working with Brittney and her mom Kelly on this special day was an absolute treat. They truly are the sweetest people I have ever met. The Amber Springs ballroom was beautifully transformed by florals from Simply Charming Flowers and rentals from Aztec. One of my favorite details was their sweet stationery suite from the always amazing Invitation Solutions. Below are some pretty photos from Ashley Gillen Photography.

Weddings to Celebrate: Ashley & Bonner at Briscoe Manor

Ashley & Bonner were married on Valentine's weekend at Briscoe Manor in Richmond, Texas.  Yes, they are both incredibly easy on the eyes.  But more importantly, they are beautiful on the inside.  Inner beauty is an amazing thing.  It not only makes the person glow, but it makes the people around them "glow" as well.  Just thinking about their wedding day makes me smile.  Here is a sneak peak of the pictures the very talented Alison Carlino captured.  I can't wait to show you more!

Fourth Wedding Anniversary Gifts

The traditional fourth wedding anniversary of fruit and flowers is said to represent creativity, fertility, hope, and renewal. Now, fruit and flowers seems pretty self explanatory, but there are some fun options out there!

Of course having flowers delivered is always a welcomed gesture, but does your bride like something a bit more hands on? Check out Year of Seeds; this kit contains 12 small earthenware pots and a different flower to grow each month. How adorable! Still looking for something not so expected? You're in luck because flowers are all the rage in fashion these days. A beautiful statement necklace would be lovely!

necklace | year of seeds | fresh flowers

Who wouldn't want a fruit basket delivered to your doorstep every month? But let's try and think outside the box a bit. When I think of fruit, I automatically associate it with a great bottle of wine {or champagne!}. Or you can also buy all of the ingredients, plan a date night at home, and make your own fruit infused alcohol. Quality time together and doing something out of the ordinary are sure to please!

Weddings to Celebrate: Erin & Steven (the video)

I am so excited to share this wonderful highlight video with you.  This was a same-day edit for my January 4th client, created my the fabulous team at Mason Jar Films.  Erin & Steven choose to have an intimate ceremony with just family, and a large reception after.  They surprised their guests by airing the video just before the toasts began.  I think my favorite part of their evening was watching everyone watch this.  I hope you enjoy it as they seemed to :)

Weddings To Celebrate: Sarah & Jason at River Oaks Garden Club | Houston Wedding Planner

From my first meeting with Sarah, I knew this wedding was going to be one for the books! Sarah's bohemian vision came to life as not a single person left the ceremony with a dry eye and they all had a blast at this amazing garden in the middle of city. You could see the love exuding every single guest as they all truly celebrated this beautiful couple!

It was my absolute pleasure coordinating such a fantastic wedding!

Weddings to Celebrate: Megan & Josh at Camp Lucy | Austin Wedding Planners

This wedding was an absolute blast to plan and design. Megan (and her sister!) have a keen sense of style, and they wanted the wedding and rehearsal dinner to be one of a kind. The theme for both events was "rustic elegance and glamour." Think sequins, chandeliers and mirrored tables at Camp Lucy. They weren't afraid to use bright, bold colors, and lots of texture. They chose a gorgeous palate of peacock green, soft pink and green and metallics for the rehearsal dinner, and rich jewel tones for the wedding--red, purple, green, and goldenrod. Sue at Alamo Plants and Petals out of San Antonio did an amazing job on the floral design. It was truly outstanding (as you'll see below!).

One of my favorite aspects was how we incorporated things that the groom Josh loved. He is a huge hunter and fisherman, so we wanted to include elements of that somehow. We chose to use antlers in the decor in several ways: as accents on the rehearsal dinner tables, in a custom-designed monogram for the dance floor at the wedding and with the most gorgeous and special antler chandelier we brought in for the events hall. We also chose a game-centered menu from Crave Catering, that included yummy bites like antelope carpaccio and bison sliders. And of course, the groom's cake!

Megan was a gorgeous bride--one of my favorite dresses ever! And I loved that she changed her hairstyle between ceremony and reception (and her shoes!).

Enjoy the eye-candy of the photos, by Twinty Photography and Diana Lott. There's a lot of photos, it was hard to narrow it down when there were sooo many beautiful details, so settle in and enjoy!

Alternative Wedding Cake Ideas

Today more and more brides and grooms are looking for dessert options and forgoing the traditional wedding cake. Some may say it is unorthodox to not have a wedding cake, but couples are seeking alternatives to personalize their wedding. If you are looking for ideas that will make your event unique and "wow" your guests, consider these wedding cake alternatives.

Third Wedding Anniversary Gifts

Traditionally, the third wedding anniversary gift is known to be leather. It's said, "As a material, leather is durable, warm, strong, flexible, and has a sense of resiliency to it. These are qualities that help marriages continue to thrive." (via about.com) Of course a new pair of shoes or a timeless handbag (she promises to use it every day to get the most out of it!) are sure to please.

And for the gentleman in your life, a new wallet, belt, a watch with a leather strap...so many options!

wallet

As you can see, leather gifts are not too difficult to come by. The gifts above are all basics that your spouse can easily add to their everyday lifestyle, but still quality pieces that can last for years. If you'd prefer to think outside of the box a little, the next batch of suggestions might take a little more thought and research :)

Does your better half have a favorite book? Track down a beautiful leather-bound copy as a keepsake to be passed down to future generations. Do you both have a passion for travel? Purchase new passport covers and plan a trip for just the two of you! Speaking of trips...plan a trip to the wine country and be sure to try a Pinot Noir for its

leather characteristics

(side note: find a winery that has a sensory evaluation...Lee and I attended one not knowing what we were doing, but I highly recommend it to everyone).

leather book | passport cover | pinot noir

As much fun as gift guides are, really think about who your spouse is and the special meaning behind the gift. Find something sentimental that speaks to your relationship. It really is the thought that counts :)
