Working together with your florist
/There are so many talented people in the wedding industry these days. Sometimes it can be next to impossible to choose just one vendor to work with since you loved them all. While a good florist can take inspiration from your color scheme and linen choices to create a beautiful range of floral arrangements, it is always helpful to communicate so that everyone is on the same page. Below are some tips for working with your wedding florist.
- Flowers aren't the end all be all, get creative with your centerpieces: Suggest that your florist mix in unexpected elements into your arrangements, such as jewels, branches, feathers, fruit or greenery. Depending on what you choose, this may help keep costs down as well.
- Go with the season: If you don't have one specific flower that must be in every arrangement, allow your florist to chose the best flowers for the best price. As long as s/he sticks to your color scheme, s/he can create beautiful arrangements with flowers that are in season.
- Contracts: Make sure that your florist gives you a contract with all the pertinent information for your wedding day (what time will they be arriving, what needs to go back with him/her at the end of the event, date & time of event, payment details, etc.). This way their is no confusion and you can avoid unanticipated disasters.
- TALK to your florist: Keep your florist informed at all times with decisions being made about your wedding. Send a photo of the dress and linens to the them, let them know if the color scheme changes, send them ALL photos of arrangements and flowers you absolutely love. The more information you give your florist, the easier it will be for them to capture your vision. Remember, you won't actually see the arrangements (in most cases) until your wedding day, so be clear with your expectations! :)
