Interview with Dagar's Catering

Interview with Kathryn Dagar-Albarado, owner of Dagar's Catering:

1) What is the most challenging thing that you face working at events as a professional caterer?

Not knowing the expectations of a client. When a client is wavering back and forth it makes it hard sometimes to get into their brain. My job is to find out what they like so I can make a meal that their guests are going to remember.

2) Why did you decide to open up a catering business?

Dagar's Catering is a family business and I am the third generation. Though I never planned on coming into the business originally, it is something that I was drawn to. You either love it or HATE it.

3) What are some tips that you can give brides to help make picking out a menu easier for both you and them?

1.Know your guest. If your guest likes to explore new things don't be afraid to be creative. For example, if your guests are "meat and potatoes" people, we try to do something they will eat, but put a twist on it.
2. Know your budget. Without a budget the caterer cannot guide you the right direction. I know sometimes brides get scared to do this, but we really need this information to get the ball rolling. We are not asking so we can gauge you; we are asking so we can help you.
3. Let the caterer know what flavor and feel your looking for to have at your wedding. Do you want a casual fun wedding or something more formal? Things like that...

4) Do you have any advice to give brides for the Big Day in terms of food choice?

Here again, know your guest. Guests come to eat, drink, and have a good time. This is your first hosted event as husband and wife and we want to make it a great party!
