11 Top San Antonio Wedding Venues
/Choosing the city in which you will celebrate your wedding day is equally as important as choosing the venue where your ceremony and reception will take place. Both help to highlight your wedding’s style, and they provide the backdrop for all of the details we source and style together as your wedding planners.
Each city in Texas offers its own flair, and we’ve already highlighted some of the wonderful wedding venues we love in Austin and Houston. But, we have one more city to celebrate. Today, we’re heading slightly west across Texas to the city known for its Riverwalk – let’s go to San Antonio! From museums to hotels, plantations, and ranches, below are 11 top wedding venues to love in the River City.
DON STRANGE RANCH:
Texas is known for ranches and Texas Hill Country, and Don Strange Ranch celebrates both. Offering the opportunity to stay on property the night before your wedding and multiple spaces to share in your guests’ joy as they witness you becoming a married pair, Don Strange Ranch combines service and rustic barn style perfectly.
Why We Love It: Don Strange Ranch feels secluded, but you’re mere moments away from the heart of San Antonio. We love that their team offers couples the chance to stay on property at the Zink House the night before the wedding, which alleviates stress the next day because you have already arrived at your getting ready location. Plus, Don Strange Ranch has two spaces perfect for celebrating – Kendall Creek and Headquarters, respectively. Each offers a slightly different feel, but both celebrate the heart of San Antonio with plenty of space to welcome up to 3,000 guests (Headquarters).
HOTEL EMMA:
Hotel Emma is as quirky and fun as it is historic, and it’s also located along the river in northern San Antonio. There’s plenty of culture for guests to enjoy steps away from the hotel, and there are multiple spaces inside for your ceremony and reception.
Why We Love It: Because of Hotel Emma’s location, we always feel couples are offering their guests the opportunity to experience San Antonio so completely. Plus, the hotel offers the opportunity for brides and grooms to get ready onsite. Hotel Emma’s event spaces are not short on quirky details that are historical and industrial, so each one serves as a cool and fun backdrop for a ceremony, reception, or both.
JACK GUENTHER PAVILION AT BRISCOE MUSEUM:
The Riverwalk is the true gem of San Antonio, so we love recommending Jack Guenther Pavilion at Briscoe Museum because it sits along this famed city spot. Filled with contemporary style and indoor/outdoor spaces, this venue is a great option for couples hoping to celebrate in the heart of downtown.
Why We Love It: The styles our couples prefer vary greatly, so we always want to be able to recommend spaces that caterer to each individual couple’s preferences. Jack Guenther Pavilion at Briscoe Museum ticks all of the boxes for a contemporary space in a wonderful location. Plan to start your celebration with an outdoor ceremony in the garden. Then retreat inside for your reception. The options here are plentiful!
KENDALL POINT:
If you would like to retreat to the Texas Hill Country for your wedding, a wonderful venue to consider is Kendall Point. It’s a family run space located outside of San Antonio with multiple ceremony and reception locations and incredible views.
Why We Love It: We are always thrilled to support family run businesses, and Kristin and Jeremy are one of our favorite duos in San Antonio. These two manage Kendall Point together, and they have such a heart for the couples they serve. On the property, you will find two locations for ceremonies. The first is outside in the gazebo overlooking a spring-fed pond, and the second is at the foot of a grand staircase. All receptions are held indoors (a preferred option due to the heat in Texas!) inside the ballroom, which can seat up to 400 guests.
LA CANTERA RESORT AND SPA:
If you’re envisioning your wedding taking place at a resort that feels like a beautiful escape, we are quick to recommend La Cantera Resort and Spa. Located in Texas Hill Country a quick 20-minute drive outside of San Antonio, this location offers beautiful touches in an incredible setting for both you and your guests.
Why We Love It: Destination weddings are popular in Texas because there are plenty of great hotels and resorts, and La Cantera Resort and Spa is definitely a go-to location for our team and our couples! The resort is home to a golf course, spa, pools, and plenty of resort activities to create a full weekend of fun. There are indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception spaces, and we’re particularly drawn to the courtyards with views of Hill Country for ceremonies! Expect to enjoy fantastic food and service with a lovely backdrop.
LOST MISSION:
Filled with Spanish style architecture and boasting plenty of awards, Lost Mission sits in Texas Hill Country on 25 acres. There are indoor and outdoor locations for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions, so there is definitely not a shortage of inspiration to use to cultivate beautiful wedding details.
Why We Love It: Having the ability to host a wedding ceremony and reception at the same location is a bonus for couples and their guests because it removes the hassle of having to drive between two locations. Lost Mission has a Spanish style chapel onsite, and the interior is beautiful! Plus, there are outdoor spaces on the lawn to create wonderful ambiance for cocktail hours and receptions. If you’re dreaming of an indoor reception, that’s possible too because there’s a spacious ballroom onsite where you can welcome up to 400 guests.
McNAY ART MUSEUM:
The McNay Art Museum is known as the first modern art museum in Texas, which we think is a wonderful historical note! Inside, there are works celebrating Renaissance, European, American, Theatre, and Southwest art. There are spaces to celebrate inside and outside amongst the art, and we also like knowing you can opt to only host your ceremony at the museum if you’re imagining experiencing multiple locations in San Antonio on your wedding day.
Why We Love It: Even though the McNay Art Museum is, in fact, a museum, it has such a contemporary and welcoming feel to it. We think that’s because it looks like a home! Located in San Antonio, the venue has indoor and outdoor locations for ceremonies and receptions. Imagine walking down an aisle set on the grounds, sipping on cocktails in the lobby, and retreating inside to dine and dance in auditorium. There are plenty of options here, and you truly cannot go wrong with any of them!
PARK 31:
Nestled outside of San Antonio in Texas Hill Country is Park 31. Like others, the venue offers indoor and outdoor locations for ceremonies and receptions, and 30 acres will surround you and your guests while you’re celebrating. Beautiful views; modern, industrial style; an incredible team – all three await at Park 31!
Why We Love It: Park 31 blends elegant and industrial style together seamlessly, and we love that the space offers the space of a ranch while still boasting contemporary style. There are two outdoor locations available for ceremonies, and the interior space is perfect for receptions. Windows stretch from floor to ceiling, chandeliers hang overhead, and exposed bricks line the walls. Style and service combine here to offer you and your guests a completely unique experience.
ST. ANTHONY HOTEL:
Similar to our roundup of Austin and Houston wedding venues, we wanted to make sure to highlight a space that feels completely luxurious in San Antonio. In this case, it’s the St. Anthony Hotel! Located in downtown San Antonio steps away from the Riverwalk, you and your guests will be close to all of the action while enjoying the service that can only be found at a four-star hotel. Plus, there are plenty of spaces for weddings!
Why We Love It: We always like offering a setting to our couples that’s beautiful and offers completely indoor spaces for ceremonies and receptions. Inside the St. Anthony Hotel, you will find up to 13 spaces primed for events of various sizes. Each one honors the history of the hotel, which was built in 1909, and each one also boasts classic French style. Some of the most lauded celebrities, like Lucille Ball, have set foot in these rooms, and we love knowing our couples are celebrating under the same classic chandeliers as such well-known figures. Plus, who wouldn’t want to capture photos outside on the terrace overlooking San Antonio?
SOUTHWEST SCHOOL OF ART:
Southwest School of Art is a San Antonio staple, and they are known for their historical spaces that feel like a fairytale mixed with the perfect amount of art. With indoor and outdoor spaces and a location along the San Antonio River, we are always thrilled to recommend this wonderful location.
Why We Love It: The fairytale feel of Southwest School of Art is unexpected because so many of the spaces in San Antonio lean more in the direction of classic rustic or modern style. So, we love the femininity of the space, particularly the chapel! Plan to recite your vows outside in the garden and be sure to capture plenty of portraits. Then retreat inside to dance and dine against a historical backdrop that can welcome up to 500 guests.
THE WITTE MUSEUM:
If you’re hoping to delight your guests with an event that’s filled with whimsy, look no further than the Witte Museum. Filled with exhibits devoted to sharing culture, nature, and science, the Witte Museum boasts an exterior that’s completely modern and an interior filled with artifacts you and your guests can enjoy throughout your event.
Why We Love It: We think museums represent the heart of the city where they’re located so well, and that’s definitely the case for how the Witte Museum celebrates San Antonio. Here, you will find two distinct packages for events. The Prassel Auditorium Package offers the chance to celebrate outside and inside beginning with a ceremony in the courtyard for up to 210 guests. The Memorial Auditorium Package is wonderful for more intimate weddings of up to 110 guests where friends and family can dine inside and outside on the patio before your dance floor fills for the night.
Are you planning to celebrate your wedding day in San Antonio? Which venue tops your list? We would love to explore these venues (and more!) with you as we plan your Texas celebration in Hill Country or in the heart of downtown.
