Sosa and Austen's One World Theatre Indian Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

Hello All,

Better late than never...I finally got the photos up on the blog from Austen and Sosa's beautiful wedding at

One World Theatre.

This was absolutely one of the most fun weddings I have ever worked. Between the beautiful bride who planned the entire wedding while working in Japan to the emotional video tribute that the groom's brother put together..this wedding had it all. Check out the great photos from

Biyani Photography!

Thanks to all the vendors that made this wedding possible. Good luck to you both Sosa and Austen!

Lauren and Braxton's Wedding at Smith Chapel and Austin Country Club | Austin Wedding Coordinator

I was delighted to serve as coordinator for Carol on Lauren and Braxton's wedding. Their ceremony was at Riverbend's Smith Chapel, and reception at Austin Country Club. I think my favorite part was the dancing - Lauren is a dance teacher, so guests were wowed by a surprise choreographed father-daughter dance and flash-mob-style bridesmaids dance. So fun!

Lauren and Braxton - Congratulations on a fabulous celebration, and best wishes for an equally fabulous marriage. :)

Weddings to Celebrate: Meredith & Trent, Grace Presbyterian and The Houstonian Golf and Country Club | Richmond Wedding Planner

This past April I coordinated the cutest little country club wedding for Meredith & Trent.  The ceremony was held at the beautiful Grace Presbyterian Church and the reception was at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club in Richmond, TX.  If you haven't been out to the golf club before, it is definitely worth the trek to Richmond.  The grounds are beautiful!  And the food is AMAZING.  I have never seen so many guests go up for seconds and thirds!

If I had one word to describe this wedding, it would be FUN.  I heard Meredith and her girls laughing as I walk into their dressing area ... and that high energy excitement lasted all night.  The band was probably the best I've ever seen.  And the dance floor was PACKED all night long.  Pretty people + high energy + yummy food = a night to remember!   Here are some of the beautiful pictures the very talented Rachel Robinson took of the day / evening.  I love working with Rachel.  She is so easy-going and fun.  :-)  Enjoy!

Korean Wedding to Celebrate: Lynn + Charles, The Bell Tower on 34th | Houston Wedding Planner

If I had to describe Lynn in just one word, it would be:  Adored.  Charles, her now husband, thinks she hung the moon.  As do her fabulous parents.  And every.single.one of her MANY friends.  And it's very easy to understand why:  I adored her within minutes of meeting her.  She is the type of woman a parent wants her daughter to become.  She is whitty and charming, while still remaining poised and polished.  She wears the love she has for her husband, parents, family and friends on her sleeve ... as do they with their love for her.  It warms my tummy just thinking about it now.

When Lynn told me she wanted a garden / outdoor inspired wedding ... I was on board in an instant.  She was open to suggestions (like my idea to bring in huge trees and mixed table shapes and Lisa Tran's MOUTH DROPPING floral ideas), while still maintaining her own voice.  The collabrative decor effort between us all, doubled with the mouth watering food preppared by The Bell Tower & Rice Epicurean and awesome tunes piped out by LG Entertainment resulted in what I believe to be one of the best events of the season.

Here are a few of the teaser pictures Kenny Kim, photographer extraordinnaire, sent over to me this weekend.  Special note:  This wedding was LAST FRIDAY.  Kenny sent me (and Lynn & Charles) not one, not two, but FOURTY-TWO teaser pictures all within the past two days.   And they aren't pictures to take lightly:  each is its own little piece of art.  The bar has been reset in my eyes:  this man is a machine!!!  I can't wait to show you the rest of his pictures in a few weeks (so many more fabo details to share!). For now, feast your eyes on these....

They did a quick wardrobe change into traditional Korean attire, and the crowd went WILD.

Part of the Best Man's toast.  He also made Lynn a shirt that said, "Bride of Chucky."  It was hilarious.  :-)

The Phenominal Cast of Vendors....

Special Note:  Everyone in this group is OUTSTANDING.  They went above and beyond for Lynn & Charles.  This event wouldn't have been the same without each and every one of them.

Wedding Inspiration Websites | Texas Wedding Planning

Since becoming an intern with Something to Celebrate I have started looking at fun and inspirational wedding websites. Of course Martha Stewart is one of the first places I looked. But, being a visual person I tended to look more at sites with mostly photographs that then lead to the article, similar to Pinterest.

The first one, weddinggawker, I discovered because of foodgawker, a food photography website. Weddinggawker was launched in 2010, the third of four user-submitted photo gallery websites.

It can be searchable through different categories like bride, flowers, jewelry, ect. All four gawker sites also have been created into iPhone applications! Here are some photos of the site.

The second website is called lover.ly. Its creators call Lover.ly a visual search engine where people can search and share their wedding inspirations. What is fun about Lover.ly is that inspiration can be searched for by color, for example orange. Here are some photos of the site!

And just in case you wanted some more photos.....

Bridesmaids to Celebrate: Tips for Choosing Something for Everyone | Texas Wedding Planning

So I was having a conversation with my husband about his friend’s upcoming wedding.  The friend’s fiancée is requiring her bridesmaids to purchase fairly expensive bridesmaid dresses and the various bridesmaids are full of complaints about it.  That got me to thinking about all of the issues that accompany the bridesmaid dress selection and how it is so hard to please everyone.  So I thought I would give my best tips to ease the angst of this process and hopefully keep the bride and all members of the bridal party happy (well, at least content).

1. To each their own.

Keep stress out of your life and theirs by letting your bridesmaids chose their own dresses.  To prevent your wedding party from looking like a random collection of wedding guests, I strongly suggest that you give them certain guidelines—length, color (a specific color or a color range), fabric type, etc.  I love the picture below because it shows that each bridesmaid has an individual style, but still looks coordinated.

2. Choose a convertible.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where we all chose the same convertible dress in the same color and we each wore the top of the dress in a different configuration.  The result turned out beautifully.  We all loved the dresses and the bride was super pleased with the outcome.

3. Make a bee-line for the a-line.

If you don’t trust your bridesmaids to choose their own dresses and you really want a uniform look so the convertible dress idea is not appealing to you, I implore you to consider the body types of your bridesmaids.  Bridesmaids (like everyone else) come in all shapes and sizes.  And if you are insistent about picking out the dress they will wear in your wedding, do yourself and them a favor by choosing a style and cut that is flattering to everyone’s body type.  When in doubt, chose an a-line cut, as it is universally flattering.

7. Black and white are no longer taboo.

Picking a neutral color such as white, ivory or black for your bridesmaids provides a great backdrop for almost any color palette.  And if your bridesmaids like the cut and style, there is a greater possibility that they would be able to wear the dress again.

Happy Planning!

Weddings to Celebrate: Angelica and Matt, Emmaus and The Mansion at Judge's Hill, Hotel Ella | Austin Wedding Planning

Angelica and Matt are one of the sweetest couples ever, so obviously in love, the kind of love that truly honors the other person. They got married in the gorgeous Emmaus in Lakeway and had their reception at the elegant Mansion atJudge's Hill the first weekend in May. For their decor, they chose soft pink tones and romantic flowers like peonies (that smelled amazing!). With the twinkling lights at the Mansion, it was truly a magical evening. Angelica and Matt, thank you for letting me be a part of your special day, it was a pleasure to be around y'all .  I wish you many years of happiness ahead!

Enjoy these gorgeous photos by Caroline+Ben.

A cute favor idea...the couple lives in California and wanted their guests to enjoy some sparkling pink bubbly from their adopted state. So fun!

Choosing a Cake Topper

Cake toppers are fun way to bring your interest and personality to your wedding. There are tons of different styles to make sure that your cake topper truly represents you and your fiancé's taste. You can choose from fresh flowers, fresh fruit or sugar flowers, which are all stunningly beautiful, or you can pick a topper that can be saved and used for a later date, such as an anniversary, renewing of the vows or your children's weddings. The keepsake toppers can range from a monogram to a Disney couple and everything in-between.

Happy Planning!

Weddings to Celebrate: Emily & Bryan (the sneak peek video and boudoir) | Houston Wedding Planner

Emily and Bryan got married at the end of May in the cutest little church inside the loop.  They had their reception at the always amazing Hotel Icon.  When I showed Emily the work 31 Films does, she fell in love for a 2nd time (Bryan being the first, of course) and immediately book them.  How could she not??  Videographer or Cinematographer will never fully describe what they do.  She chose their "same day" edit, which is a really cool option that is becoming increasingly popular.  Here is a link to the beautiful video her guests got to see after entering the ballroom (immediately before dinner).  The entire room was in tears ... including me!

To See the Video, Please Click Here

Emily also gave Bryan the coolest gift:  An album of boudoir pictures - taken in the same suite they spent their wedding night.  It was UNBELIEVABLE, and Bryan loved it so much he even showed me!  Imagine Emily's suprise when she found out it was featured on Style Me Pretty!  Here is a teaser picture from that beautiful session.  If you are interested in doing something similar for your groom-to-be, you should definitely check out Koby & Terilyn Brown of Archetype Studio

I can't wait to show you the pictures Rachel Robison took!  Stay tuned for a post on that in a few weeks :-)

Weddings to Celebrate: Erin & Garrett, private residence in Fulshear | Houston Wedding Planner

Erin & Garrett got married in April at her parent's home in Fulshear, TX. Upon first meeting Erin and her mom I knew I would have such a great time planning this wedding with them, and boy did I ever. Erin is one of the sweetest, funniest people I have ever met and her mom's craftiness is so inspiring (she made and embroidered all of the runners and throw pillows for the wedding)! The starting off point was Jacqueline Chapelle's incredibly beautiful french inspired tents. From there the color palette of varying shades of purples, pinks, peaches and ivory was selected. Below are some gorgeous photographs taken by Julie Wilhite of Julie Wilhite Photography! I truly can not say enough amazing things about Julie :)

Weddings to Celebrate :: Roshel and Joey, Emmaus Catholic + One World Theatre | Austin Wedding Planner

Roshel and Joey hired me 12 months before their wedding, to help with just about every aspect of the planning and execution. And I'm so glad they did! These two are SO FUN! Really, a blast to work with. I'm sad it's over!

Their ultimate goal was a wedding that was fun - and they definitely met that goal! From the live music, to the Dutch-sing-along, to the late night snack Chicken and Waffles, this wedding was a blast, full of personal touches.

Roshel and Joey, thank you for choosing me! I miss you already. Congratulations!!

xoxo,

jessica (& katie!)

Katie and I drew inspiration for Roshel and Joey's design board from their love to travel, and her dad's profession as a ship captain, coupled with the Mediterranean touches of their beautiful reception venue, One World Theatre. Here's the Mood Board page from that design board, followed by pictures of the event by Sunny 16, and video from Altared Weddings

. Enjoy!

One sure-fire way to get guests to participate in the bouquet and garter toss!

Weddings to Celebrate: Tiffany and Pablo, Barr Mansion | Austin Wedding Planner

Tiffany and Pablo are high school sweethearts, kind of rare these days. They met in Spanish class, and Pablo impressed her with his native Spanish-speaking skills. This wedding was one of those special ones where you could tell that everyone there was so excited for the couple. In fact, people traveled from all over the world to attend, which is always such a sweet expression. Even the groom traveled from Columbia where he lives and works!

They planned a gorgeous evening at the historic Barr Mansion, with lush flowers, plenty of candlelight and unique touches like a cigar roller (a big hit!). Tiffany chose a romantic palette of white, pinks, and purples, in a range of shades--even the ombre cake fit in with the theme perfectly. Enjoy these highlights captured by Katherine O'Brien photography (and make sure to scroll down for a complete list of vendors).

Tiffany and Pablo, thank you for letting me share in your special day. I wish you many years of happiness!

Weddings to Celebrate: Therese & Lee, The Houstonian | Houston Wedding Planner

I am SO EXCITED to share these pictures with you all!!!  Therese and Lee are two peas in a pod.  Both kind, poised and beautiful.  Both a pleasure to be around.  Both super intelligent.  And both truly in love with the other.  I had so much fun helping them plan their wedding and reception.  I wish the planning hadn't come to an end!!!  One beautiful couple + yummy yummy food + great music + breath-taking decor = memories that will last a lifetime.  :-)

Here are some of my favorite pictures captured by the brilliant Joey of John & Joseph Photography (out of California).  Therese chose Joey before she chose the city for the event ... and you can see why.  It was SO HARD for me to narrow these down.  There were 49 (yes, I said 49) that I loved.  Alas, you can't make a blog post that long, right?  Special note:  be sure to scroll all the way down and read the cast of vendors.  They were all PHENOMENAL.
